Job Summary

We are looking for an experienced, creative, disciplined, full stack web developer to join a team that is building an innovative toolset to help information owners provide customized web portal delivery of high volumes of structured interlinked documents and metadata.  The successful applicant will demonstrate high competence in basic web technologies, and a good understanding of human-computer interaction for hypermedia applications.

General Requirements

  • Must have the ability to sit for extended periods of time
  • Exhibit manual dexterity to dial a telephone, and to enter data into a computer terminal
  • Speak in audible tones, so that others may understand clearly in person and on the telephone
  • Must have good communication skills, both written and verbal, and work well in a team environment
  • Ability to give and take direction, including training where necessary
  • Must be self-guided and have the desire to learn and work well in an environment with little to no supervision
  • Ability to see and read a computer screen and printed material, with or without vision aids
  • Able to hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone
  • Must have a creative and curious mind, to come up with new and innovative solutions for extended reality application
  • Must be willing to collaborate with other team members and stakeholders.
  • Must be willing to provide support and service assistance for front-end toolset

Responsibilities & Specific Requirements

  • Responsible for assisting with the design and implementation of web delivery front-end toolset

    • Responsible for ensuring the technical feasibility of UI/UX designs
    • Responsible for optimizing the application for usability, performance, and scalability
    • Our current technology stack requires proficiency in the following areas

      • HTML5

        		CSSDOMjavascript
        bootstraplessXMLscss
        Apache freemarkerHTTPjQueryJSON
        XSLT2   
    • Our application is moving toward full linked data capabilities across XML and RDF data sources, which will require familiarity with the following additional technologies:
      • RDFSPARQLOWLSKOS

    • Applicants will also need working knowledge of or be willing to invest in gaining that knowledge related to:
      • DITA and  DITA Specialization
      • Web architecture and REST principles
      • Linked Data Platform
      • JIRA
      • git Source Control

Preferred Skills

  • Preference given to applicants with Graduate Degree and requisite technical skills
  • Other applicants must have at least 10 years of experience in web page development, web publishing, or structured content management (authoring through delivery)
  • Experience writing documentation and training materials
  • Requirements analysis
